It’s a simple question and it deserves a straight answer: Do you support a constitutional amendment that undoes the damage of Citizens United and protects our democracy from big money?
Too many of our elected leaders and candidates for office haven’t spoken up to let us know where they stand on this issue. It’s time for us to ask every single one of them:Are you with us?
So call them. Meet with them. Show up at their public events and ask: Are you with us? Encourage your leaders and local candidates to go on record by signing the following pledge:
I declare my support for amending the Constitution of the United States to restore the rights of the American people, undermined by Citizens United and related cases, to protect the integrity of our elections and limit the corrosive influence of money in our democratic process.
- Take it to your representatives and local candidates.
- Ask them to make a clear and public declaration about their support for reclaiming our democracy.
- Let us know when your elected official or candidates have taken the pledge: add them to the list on our coalition website or email Amend2012@CommonCause.org.
If your representatives and candidates have already publicly supported the goals of Amend 2012: add them to the growing list of public officials who are standing up for democracy.
